La Cala Resort, the largest golf complex in Spain, is an exclusive residential and recreational estate of approximately 1,000 acres situated on the famous Costa del Sol between the Sierra de Mijas Natural Park and the Mediterranean. Although located in a tranquil area, the resort is only 20 minutes from Marbella and 30 minutes from Malaga Airport.
Stunning location for Spanish Golf Property between Mijas and Marbella
Since its creation in 1989, the development concept at La Cala Resort has been one of low density in order to maximise the privacy for residents and to protect the resort’s special rustic environment. High-quality apartments, semi-detached homes, villas and plots are available for purchase.
Wide range of facilities from Hotel La Cala, one of Malaga's leading hotels
The principal facilities within the estate include a luxury hotel, Caracala Spa, the commanding clubhouse, three 18-hole golf courses and a six hole par 3 'executive' course. The hotel commands a central position between the La Cala golf courses and the 107 bedrooms and suites boast breathtaking views. Beautifully decorated, they maintain the traditional Andalusian architectural style whilst offering the luxury of satellite TV, electronic safe, hairdryer, direct dial telephones, central heating, air conditioning, minibar and bathrooms complete with underfloor heating. For those in search of the perfect combination of business and pleasure, the complex offers a range of conference rooms with capacity for up to 226 people.
La Cala Resort boasts three 18-hole championship courses designed by the renowned Cabell Robinson, a star pupil of the legendary Robert Trent Jones. It also has a top quality six-hole par 3 layout that is attached to the only David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Spain. With a five-star hotel and properties to rent, the visiting player or group need never leave the resort to enjoy a varied and thoroughly enjoyable golfing experience.
A round of golf in any of the La Cala courses is an unforgettable experience. Alright, you may lose a few balls, your temper, your friends (temporarily) or all three but one thing you won’t lose is the memory of some of the most spectacular scenery to be found in any golf course in any part of the world. Set in a nature reserve, surrounded by mountains and the Mediterranean, the courses are carved amidst breathtaking scenery that will remain with you along after the final scores are tallied.
The three 18-hole courses offer different challenges. Campo America hosted the Ladies European Tour Q-school in 2005 and 2006. It is longer than the tight, challenging Campo Asia. This course welcomed the top Spanish professionals in 2007 for 18th PGA Spanish Pairs Championship, won by Miguel Ángel and Andrés Jimenéz. Campo Europa opened in 2005 and has already drawn much favourable comment from the top players who regularly play and practice in La Cala.
The par 3 course offers a great opportunity for beginners and experienced players alike to practice. It is quite challenging and offers views to the Mediterranean. The David Leadbetter Academy has covered and grass driving bays and the team of teaching professionals can design a teaching plan specially tailored for your needs. Advanced technologies available include Europe’s only TaylorMade Performance Lab, a SAM putting lab, zenoLINK biomechanics analysis, etc. There is also a practice green and a club-fitting service for any important equipment adjustments.
The clubhouse is the location for the fully-stocked pro shop, a gymnasium and saunas in the luxurious and recently renovated dressing rooms.
THE CLUBHOUSE
The clubhouse has been designed in the style of a traditional Andalucian-style cortijo or farmhouse. The 19th Hole (Hoyo 19) is the favoured meeting place before and after a round, offering breakfast, lunch and evening meals as well as snacks throughout the day. There is an extensive range of drinks available and you can choose to sit in the air-conditioned lounge or on the ample, shaded terrace overlooking the Campo Asia. In addition, all top sports events are shown daily on satellite TV.
The Los Olivos room beside the 19th Hole is the ideal setting for small groups of diners and for prize-giving ceremonies with the option to sit inside or outside on the terrace. There is a large terrace area that can accommodate 250 people and there is also a private terrace that can be used by smaller groups for open-air dining.
The dressing rooms have been recently renovated and offer luxurious changing areas with spacious, individual power showers and saunas for both men and women. The clubhouse building also houses a squash court and a gym, with a range of exercise equipment.
19th Hole Opening Hours:
